Quick Overview

Product Description
Koss developed the KDE250 with a pair of dynamic transducers that mount at a perpendicular angle. The larger 20mm transducer is low frequency dominant and ported while the 13mm transducer focuses on mid and upper frequencies in a side firing angle, allowing greater efficiency and accuracy across the entire musical spectrum. Each features a matching set of 3 customized ear clips. Clips can be adjusted for height w/a special knurled knob on the element case assembly, dialing in comfort for a perfect fit. Koss also developed a unique hinge mechanism to allow the listener to modify the attack angle of the transducer as it enters the ear canal improving comfort, isolation and enhancing transparency.

This dual element stereophone sounds great when properly positioned in the ear. It will take a bit of time for you to adjust them to your most comfortable and sound liking taste. They are accurate and clear sounding. Not muffled and distant as some phones. The trick to these are proper positioning. Once proper placement is achieved it sounds better than the legendary Koss PortaPro which I have owned since they came out in 1984! These are not for those who just want to put on phones and not fiddle around with them for the best sound. The PortaPro are still the best open air compact phones around! The KDE 250 are costly, around $140-150 dollars, and does not appear to be very practical for on the go active people as the thin wiring appears to be too fragile for rough handling. At home and for walking and bicycle riding they are fine. If you are looking for an on-in ear speaker these are great and need less power to run than the PortaPro!

Easily the best sound I've ever heard from a headphone. The key is the two speaker elements -- one for bass that sits outside the ear, and a second for mids/highs that rests inside the side (somewhat like an ear bud). The first time I turned these on I had one of those "got to share" moments -- I went around making people put these on and give them a listen. The sound is that good. Even at very high volume (which is my preference), the KDE250s do not distort. An impressive product from Koss.
